Aspects and research

Socket gems carry one of nine Aspects. Research uses one to three gems with different Aspects; Prismatic gems have no Aspect and can instead serve as an optional catalyst.

Run /arcane research beside an enchanting table in Survival. The default minimum effective Arcane levels are 5 for Fundamental and 10 for Specialized research. Effective Arcane level is the higher of Enchanting and Smithing.

These are recipe sizes, not the hidden Aspect combinations. The counts assume a matching recipe, Rough reagents and default tuning. Higher-grade gems, talents and a Prismatic catalyst can accelerate progress. Signature research also needs its feature unlocks; it is not made available merely by collecting three gems.

An experiment consumes its selected gems, optional catalyst and Dust. Default Dust cost is 4 per reagent. Partial combinations can build clues toward a larger recipe, but partial progress alone cannot finish that recipe.
